Power Wheelchair Terrain Test
Not all electric wheelchairs are built for the same surfaces. Whether you're navigating smooth sidewalks, enjoying a park, or exploring outdoor paths, choosing a wheelchair with the right terrain capability makes a difference.
At OAS Mobility, we test our power wheelchairs across different surfaces to help you understand their real-world performance. Our terrain comparison covers five common surface types:
- Indoor & Paved Paths: Ideal for smooth indoor floors, sidewalks, and paved roads.
- Firm Grass: Evaluates performance on flat, compact grass surfaces.
- Gravel: Measures handling on loose gravel and compacted stone paths.
- Uneven Trails: Tests performance on outdoor paths with bumps and irregular surfaces.
- Cobblestone: Evaluates stability and handling on uneven stone paving.
Compare Terrain Capabilities
From lightweight travel wheelchairs to heavy-duty all-terrain power wheelchairs, each OAS model is designed for different mobility needs.
The Air Pro, Air Ultra, and Air Carbon are best suited for everyday mobility on paved surfaces, with limited capability on firm grass and gravel. They are not recommended for uneven trails or cobblestone.
The Cruise Pro offers greater versatility, with strong performance across grass and gravel, plus additional capability on uneven trails and cobblestone.
For more demanding outdoor conditions, the Adventure Pro delivers our highest terrain performance, making it a great choice for users who want to explore beyond paved paths.
Choose Your OAS Wheelchair
Consider where you plan to use your electric wheelchair most often. For daily errands, indoor mobility, and paved paths, a lightweight model may be all you need. If outdoor adventures and varied terrain are part of your routine, consider a model with greater terrain capability.
Note: Performance ratings are based on OAS internal testing. Actual results may vary depending on surface conditions, slopes, rider weight, and driving technique. Avoid using your wheelchair on snow or sand, or in heavy rain.
