Frequently Asked Questions
Buying & Choosing
Choosing the right wheelchair depends on your lifestyle and body needs:
- → Best for travel and tight spaces. At just 33 lb (without battery), it folds in seconds, is TSA-approved for flights, and has a 30-inch turning radius—perfect for navigating narrow hallways, doorways, and crowded places.
- → Best for comfort and size flexibility. It has a wider seat and higher weight capacity, making it more comfortable for larger body types or longer daily use. While less portable than Air Pro, it offers solid stability for both indoor and outdoor use.
Key factors to consider:
- – Need lightweight, car-friendly, or flight-ready? → Air Pro.
- – Need to move easily in small rooms or crowded areas? → Air Pro.
- – Need more space and higher load capacity? → Cruise One.
- – Travel vs. daily long-term comfort.
Air Pro
- 39 lb with 12 Ah battery (≈ 17.7 kg); 33 lb without battery (≈ 15.0 kg)
- 575 × 335 × 700 mm (≈ 22.6 × 13.2 × 27.6 in)
Cruise One

Fitting Support
Right now, we offer fitting guidance by phone or email. Our team can walk you through key details like seat width, turning space, doorway clearance, transfers, and loading into a car. We’ll also help you decide between the Air Pro (lightweight, easy to handle, tight turning radius) and the Cruise One (roomier seat, higher weight capacity).
What to Look For During Your At-Home Trial
- Can you or your caregiver lift the chair and fit it into the trunk with ease?
- Try tight hallways and kitchens—Air Pro’s small turning radius shines here.
- Check seat width, posture, and armrest height—Cruise One may be better if you want more space.
- Practice transfers, crossing thresholds/ramps, and gauge how far it takes you on your typical outings.
Start with how you’ll use it most days. Use this quick guide:
Choose a travel-friendly model → Air Pro if you:
- lift/store the chair often (car trunks, stairs).
– Weight: 33 lb without battery / 39 lb with 12 Ah
– Folded: 22.6 × 13.2 × 27.6 in (575 × 335 × 700 mm) - tight spaces (apartments, narrow hallways, small elevators).
– Small turning radius (~30 in) helps in kitchens, bathrooms, shops. - frequently.
– Travel-ready/TSA compliant lithium setup (confirm airline rules before flying). - short–medium daily trips and want the option to add range.
– Base range about 15 mi; with extended battery, 50+ mi
Choose a heavy-duty model → Cruise One if you:
- space and capacity over portability.
– Wider seat (48 cm / 18.9 in); higher load capacity (~400 lb). - longer or on mixed/uneven surfaces (paths, parks, ramps) and want extra stability.
- 52 lb without battery / 60 lb with 1×15 Ah
– Folded: 31.3 × 15.0 × 28.1 in (795 × 380 × 715 mm) - 5-question self-check (pick one):
- 3+ of these—Air Pro: Do you travel often? Lift it yourself? Live with tight turns? Prefer the lightest chair? Need airline-friendly batteries?
- 3+ of these—Cruise One: Do you need a wider seat? Higher capacity? Mostly ride outdoors? Rarely lift the chair? Have a roomy trunk/SUV?
Use this buyer’s checklist (what it is → why it matters → how your models map):
- Ensures pressure relief, posture, and safety.
• If you need a wider seat or higher capacity → Cruise One (48 cm / ~18.9″ seat, ~400 lb).
• If standard sizing works and you prioritize portability → Air Pro. - Determines whether you/caregiver can load it into a car or up steps.
• Air Pro: 33 lb without / 39 lb with 12 Ah — easy to lift when battery removed.
• Cruise One: 52 lb without / 60 lb with 1×15 Ah — heavier, better if you rarely hand-lift. - Check trunk opening and hallway/elevator fit.
• Air Pro: 575×335×700 mm (≈22.6×13.2×27.6″)
• Cruise One: 795×380×715 mm (≈31.3×15.0×28.1″) - Tight indoor spaces vs. open outdoor areas.
• Air Pro: ~30″ turning radius—great for narrow kitchens, bathrooms, and shops.
• Cruise One: Roomier chair; better if you don’t face many tight turns. - Match daily distance and terrain.
• Air Pro: ~15 mi baseline; 50+ mi with extended battery (owner-stated UVP).
• Real range varies with user weight, slopes, surface, temperature. - Bigger/wider tires help over thresholds and rougher paths; solid anti-tip wheels add security.
• Cruise One uses larger rear tires for stability outdoors; Air Pro favors compact agility. - Smooth joystick control, multiple speed modes, electromagnetic “release-to-stop” brake for safety; manual free-wheel for pushing when powered off.
- Cushion/backrest support, armrest height/foldability, footrest adjustability, transfer ease.
• Need more interior space or longer sitting comfort → Cruise One.
• Want lighter frame and quick folds → Air Pro. - Battery must meet airline rules; compact folds help at gates.
• Air Pro is travel-ready/TSA-friendly; always confirm airline battery policy in advance. - Clear returns, fast responses, and repair transparency reduce ownership risk.
Use this quick, OT-style sizing checklist at home:
1) Seat width (most important)
- How to measure: Sit on a firm chair. Measure the widest point of hips/thighs.
- Add clearance: add ~2–3 cm (≈0.8–1.2″) total for clothing and hand clearance.
- Model guide:
If your result is ≥ 47 cm (≈18.5″) → choose a wide seat like Cruise One (48 cm / 18.9″ internal width).
If < 47 cm and you value portability → Air Pro is typically the better fit (compact seat; confirm by phone/email).
2) Seat depth (thigh support)
- How to measure: From your back (buttocks) to the back of the knee (popliteal fold), minus 2–5 cm (≈1–2″) to avoid pressure at the knee.
- Goal: Thighs supported, 2–3 fingers of space behind the knee.
3) Seat height / footrest
- How to measure: Floor (heel with usual shoes) to back of knee + cushion thickness.
- Check: Thighs roughly level, feet flat on footplates, and ~5 cm (≈2″) ground clearance under footplates when rolling.
4) Reality check during a home trial (7-day returns)
- Transfer on/off safely?
- Any rubbing at hips or behind knees after 20–30 min?
- Can you reach the joystick comfortably without leaning?
- Does clothing (winter coat) still leave a little side clearance?
Model mapping (simple rule of thumb)
Need more interior space / higher capacity (~400 lb) or sit long hours → Cruise One (48 cm seat width).
Care about liftability, tight turns, travel → Air Pro (33 lb w/o battery; small turning radius).
Air Pro
- Typical range: ~15 miles (≈24 km) per charge with the 12 Ah battery.
- Extended option: Up to 50+ miles (≈80+ km) with the extended-battery setup (your stated UVP).
- Best for short–medium daily trips, airports, travel and city errands.
Cruise One
- Battery noted: 24 V, 1×20 Ah
Estimated real range: ~10mi per charge.
**Actual range varies with rider weight, terrain/slope, average speed, stop-and-go usage, tire pressure, temperature, and accessory load. Expect lower range on hills, rough surfaces, and in cold weather.
Quick tip to maximize range
Keep tires properly inflated, avoid top speed for long periods, accelerate smoothly, and store/charge batteries at room temperature.
Air Pro (24 V × 12 Ah = 288 Wh): Generally allowed for air travel because it’s ≤ 300 Wh. You still need airline approval and must follow packing rules.
Cruise One (24 V × 20 Ah = 480 Wh): Above 400 Wh. In most cases this will not be accepted if the battery has to be removed or carried as a spare. Many U.S. carriers apply a 300 Wh limit for lithium-ion wheelchair batteries. If you plan to fly, choose an airline-compliant pack (≤ 300 Wh) or use Air Pro.
The typical service life of a power wheelchair is ~5 years under normal use and maintenance.
How to maximize lifespan (quick checklist):
Charge smart: Avoid deep discharges; partial, regular charging reduces stress on Li-ion cells. Store/charge at moderate temperatures.
Routine care: Keep the chair clean and dry; check bolts, brakes, joystick operation monthly; schedule an annual inspection.
Tires matter: Keep pneumatics properly inflated; replace worn solids/pneumatics promptly.
Operate within limits: Stay within rated capacity and avoid frequent curb drops or rough terrain beyond the chair’s design—this preserves motors, gearboxes, and frame. (Best practice per manufacturer manuals.)

Travel & Portability
Yes you should choose Air Pro. Air Pro (24 V × 12 Ah = 288 Wh): Generally accepted by airlines because it’s ≤ 300 Wh. You must still follow airline procedures and get approval.
Yes—just compare your trunk opening to the folded size below and use the quick check.
Folded sizes (L × W × H)
Air Pro: 22.6 × 13.2 × 27.6 in (575 × 335 × 700 mm)
Cruise One: 31.3 × 15.0 × 28.1 in (795 × 380 × 715 mm)
Both Air Pro and Cruise One are tool-free, quick-folding power wheelchairs. Most users can fold them in a few seconds after a little practice. You generally don’t need to disassemble anything for transport—just fold and (optionally) remove the battery to lighten the lift.
Air Pro (33 lb without battery / 39 lb with 12 Ah): For many adults, yes—solo lift is realistic, especially if you remove the battery first.
Cruise One (52 lb without battery / 60 lb with 1×20 Ah): Often two-person, a ramp, or a small hoist is recommended. A strong single lifter might manage occasionally, but it’s near/over common ergonomic limits for one-person lifts—especially at trunk height.
Car transport (trunk/SUV)
- Fold & lock: Power off, fold, and make sure the latch is fully engaged.
- Remove the battery to reduce lifting weight; place it in a padded tote (terminals covered).
- Pad + secure: Lay a blanket/mat, add soft padding around the frame/joystick, and strap it to prevent sliding (heavy items shouldn’t sit on top).
- Lift safely: Slide rather than dead-lift; hold the main frame, not armrests.
Air travel (gate-check or baggage)
Tell your airline in advance you’re traveling with a battery-powered mobility aid and provide the Wh rating (Air Pro 288 Wh; Cruise One 360 Wh). Airlines must know where the battery is and how to secure the chair.
Battery rules: If your battery must be removed, it goes in carry-on only, with terminals protected (insulate/exposed contacts covered). Many policies limit lithium-ion wheelchair batteries to ≤ 300 Wh.
Protect parts: Remove or secure anything that sticks out (cup holders, cushions, loose tools). Zip-tie cables; wrap the joystick with padding.
Handling card (attach to the chair): A one-page sheet with weight, fold/unfold steps, battery location, how to release/engage the brake, plus “Do not lift by armrests.” (DOT recommends attaching clear assembly/disassembly instructions for airline staff.)
On arrival: Inspect immediately and report any damage before leaving the airport; new DOT rules strengthen protections if a wheelchair is mishandled.
Keep it clean, dry, and cool; power off, fold, and store the battery correctly. Use this checklist for short-term (days–weeks) and long-term (30+ days) storage.
Power off and make sure freewheel levers are in “Drive” (so it won’t roll).
Fold & latch the frame; don’t lift by the armrests when moving it.
Remove the battery if you won’t use the chair for a while; keep terminals covered.
Protect the joystick with a soft cover; avoid weight on it.
Dry, ventilated place away from heaters, rain, or direct sun. Use a breathable cover (not airtight plastic).
Yes. You can carry an extra, model-compatible battery for longer days.
Around town/by car: Bring a spare pack in a padded pouch, with terminals covered, and swap when needed. Use OEM batteries only to ensure BMS compatibility and maintain safety/warranty.
By air: Extra (spare) batteries are allowed only under airline rules—see below.
Airline rules (spare batteries)
- Watt-hour limits: Airlines follow a ≤ 300 Wh per lithium-ion battery limit for mobility aids. You may carry one spare ≤ 300 Wh or two spares ≤ 160 Wh each, in carry-on only, with terminals protected. Airline approval is usually required.
- Installed vs. spare: If the battery is installed and protected by design, the chair is typically checked with the battery installed. Spare/removed batteries must never be checked—carry-on only, and protect terminals from short-circuit. Inform the airline where the battery is.
Maintenance & Care
Daily riders: Charge after each day’s use. Partial charges are fine—no need to fully drain first.
Occasional riders (a few times/week): Charge whenever you drop near ~30–40%, or at least once a week.
Long-term storage (30+ days): Store at ~40–60%, then top up every 6–8 weeks.
1. Quick checklist (every time)
Power off; ensure freewheel levers are in “Drive.”
Fold & latch the chair; avoid lifting by armrests.
Remove the battery if you won’t ride for a while; cover the terminals.
Protect the joystick with a soft cover; don’t place weight on it.
Store in a dry, ventilated, shade-cool place; use a breathable cover (not airtight plastic).
2. Battery care (most important)
Daily/weekly use: Charge after rides; OK to top up—avoid deep (0%) discharges.
Idle 1–4 weeks: Store at ≈50–80%; top up monthly.
Idle 1–6 months: Store at ≈40–60%; check/top up every 6–8 weeks.
Temperature: Aim for 50–77°F (10–25°C); avoid freezing/heat (>95°F / 40°C).
Charger: Use the original charger; don’t leave connected for months—unplug after reaching the target level.
3. Frame, tires, cushion
Wipe off moisture/dust before storing.
Pneumatic tires: keep inflated; solid tires: roll the chair occasionally to avoid flat spots.
Long storage: stand the cushion upright or relieve pressure so it doesn’t take a set.
Keep it cool, stay mostly in the 20–80% charge window, avoid deep discharges, and store around 40–60% if idle for weeks.
High-impact habits (do these first)
Charge after your ride; don’t run to 0%. Aim to finish days above 20–30%.
Avoid heat. Charge/use/store around 50–77°F (10–25°C); never leave the pack in a hot car.
Partial charges are good. It’s fine to stop at 80–90% for daily use; save 100% for trip days.
Gentle driving = longer life. Moderate speed/acceleration reduces current draw and heat.
Use the OEM charger only. It’s tuned to your BMS and voltage.
Charging routine
Daily riders: Top up after each day (4–6 hrs typical).
Occasional riders: Recharge when near 30–40% or at least weekly.
Gauge calibration (optional, monthly): Run to ~20–30%, then charge to 100% once—keeps the indicator accurate.
Storage routine (30+ days)
Store the battery at ~40–60%, cool/dry place; top up every 6–8 weeks.
Don’t leave on the charger for months; unplug after reaching target.
Remove the battery from the chair if storing long-term; cover terminals.
Usage factors that steal range (and age the pack faster)
High load: Steep hills, soft ground, heavy payloads.
Under-inflated tires: Keep pneumatics properly inflated.
Cold weather: Expect less range; warm to room temp before charging.
Power off, wipe with a damp (not wet) cloth and mild soap, keep water away from electronics, and—if needed—disinfect with 70% isopropyl alcohol or an EPA-registered product. Never hose down or submerge the chair.
Pneumatic (air-filled) tires: Check pressure weekly and before long trips; inflate to the PSI printed on the tire sidewall (don’t exceed it).
Solid / foam-filled tires: Inspect weekly for cuts, cracks, chunking, or flat spots (no pressure to check).
The motors are sealed and largely maintenance-free; the brakes are electromagnetic and should be function-tested regularly. Keep both dry, clean, and correctly adjusted (freewheel levers in Drive)

Safety & Usage
Avoid rain whenever possible. Power wheelchairs aren’t waterproof. Brief, light drizzle may be tolerated if you head to shelter immediately, keep the joystick protected, and thoroughly dry the chair before riding or charging. Do not ride in heavy rain, through puddles, or hose the chair off.
Good news: Air Pro and Cruise One share the same, simple joystick logic—power on, choose a speed level, then push the stick in the direction you want to go. Release the stick and the chair brakes automatically.
